Pole Dancing, Silk Swinging Kerry, March’s Girl
Welcome to our Girl of the Month feature! Each month, we will highlight one of your fellow students. This month we’ll chat with Kerry. Let’s see what makes her tick!
Hometown: West Haven, CT
What is your occupation? Middle school teacher
What is your age? 27
How long have you been a Girl Spot Girl? 6 months
What drew you to classes at The Girl Spot? I had taken pole dancing lessons before and I wanted to get back into it. When I called TGS for more information, Judy was super friendly and helpful so I knew it was the type of place I was looking for.
What keeps you coming back? The classes are a ton of fun, there are always new workshops going on, and everyone is so supportive of each other.
What is your biggest challenge in classes right now? There are a bunch of things I’m struggling with right now, but the biggest one in pole is probably either my chopper or my handstand. In silks, my biggest one is piking into an inversion. (So basically I need to keep building up my strength.)
What has your biggest success in class been? Finally being able to climb and pass Pole Basics!
Tell us about your top 3 favorite things to do when you’re not in the studio? I sing in a choir, I love to read, and I direct my middle school’s drama club.
Tell us the one thing about your classes that makes it worthwhile: This is the first time in years that I’ve been able to find the motivation to work out multiple times a week. I’m having fun, and everyone being so supportive encourages me to keep trying even when I’m struggling. Honestly, I’m so glad I found The Girl Spot, because I’ve been healthier and so much happier since I started taking classes here!
